Jeanne-Marie JM Viljoen
Jeanne-Marie Viljoen is an early career humanities academic. Her PhD investigated the unseen aspects of political violence as it is depicted in visual texts such as graphic narratives and animated documentaries. She teaches visual culture, visual research methods and English. Her current research interests include investigating how we might compensate for an overemphasis on the visual by altering the types of images we use and the way we present these. This is so that we are able to evoke our other senses too when we communicate digitally to capture some of what remains invisible and enhance the way we share experiences and build empathy in a mediated world.
